How to setup Portmaster on FreeBSD
This tutorial is mainly so that I can point to it in other tutorials, I'll only show you the basics of setting up Portmaster and how I have it setup. I posted my portmaster.rc at the bottom of this tutorial. The first thing we need to do to use portmaster is install it, so run the following commands to install portmaster from the ports.
cd /usr/ports/ports-mgmt/portmaster sudo make install clean
The next thing I do is edit the config file and change a few things, open the file with the following command.
vi /usr/local/etc/portmaster.rc
Now I uncomment the following lines, save it and I'm done, your config file should look something like the example I posted at the bottom of this page.
#ALWAYS_SCRUB_DISTFILES=dopt #PM_VERBOSE=vopt #PM_PACKAGES_BUILD=pmp_build #PM_DEL_BUILD_ONLY=pm_dbo #PM_NO_CONFIRM=pm_no_confirm
You can find more information on Portmaster here.
This is my example portmaster.rc
